What is UncommonKnowledge?

UNCOMMONKNOWLEDGE is an online course designed to guide aspiring prospects to free themselves from the pants to the lance!

In other words, if you want to become your own boss and earn some dosh, UNCOMMONKNOWLEDGE will inform and provide you with the secrets to success!

When using the UNCOMMONKNOWLEDGE identity with other logos and graphic elements, maintain a safety space ratio of 9:1.

When creating a maze it should always be half the spacing ratio of the U shape which has a spacing ratio of 27:1. The spacing between the logo and the title should equal the same distance ratio as the safety space and the spacing between the title and the strapline should maintain a ratio of 18:1.

Workshops

UNCOMMONKNOWLEDGE involves a series of workshops which are steps that act as a guide to lead you through the maze of starting up a buisness. Currently there are five workshops; Bootstrap your digital products, The Pitch, Finish that Book, Startup Toolbox and Social Strategies. Each workshop has its very own maze using the standards explained in the Logo Anatomy section and allowing the same variations explained in the Logo section above.

Dos & Don'ts

The following illustrations demonstrate correct and incorrect renderings of UNCOMMONKNOWLEDGE. Whilst it does not cover every possible scenario, you will formulate a good idea of what is acceptable and what is not.

Colour

The primary colours Midnight and Sky are one of our greatest distinguishing features. It is an essential part of our brand identity and heritage. Our secondary colour of Light Green can be used as a complementary colour to highlight areas without overpowering the main brand colours.

Typography

The font Raleway plays an important part of building the UNCOMMONKNOWLEDGE brand. It is both confident and distinct in appearance to create an instantly recognisable means of communication associated as part of the UNCOMMONKNOWLEDGE brand.

Helvetica Neue should strictly be used for numbers as its clean and linear features create a visual harmony. For scaling purposes we like to follow the Golden Ratio to calculate the correct proportion.

Icons

The ten graphics below are the official UNCOMMONKNOWLEDGE icons. They conform to the same structure and colour used in the logo and the same width of stroke should be used throughout. It is important to use lines wherever possible with the exeption of curves in circumstances where it may be effecting visual communication such as the curve for the lightbulb.

Mazes

Mazes are what UNCOMMON KNOWLEDGE is all about, it is a theme that created the entire brand, communicating our mission to guide those on a journey to success. They are a versatile design that can be used to complement and improve aesthetics where things are looking a bit bare, but don't over do it, it is important to find a nice balance.

The graphics below show some examples to go by for the way we expect presentation of printed leaflets, brochures and books to appear. From the standards set in these guidelines above we hope that you will have a firm idea of what is acceptable and what is not. However, if in doubt, drop us a line!

Pattern

The UNCOMMONKNOWLEDGE mazes can be used to create a repetitive pattern which can be applied to literature associated with UNCOMMONKNOWLEDGE such as the inside cover page of the UNCOMMONKNOWLEDGE books.

Lingo

Being a non-mainstream company, we like to use a tone of voice that is casual and friendly to users. We don't want to intimidate them, we want to help them! We believe a message is easier to understand when it is simple, so we like to speak the language of our users, being direct and to the point. Don't be afraid to use humour, it enhances the joyful experience!
